Turkey shares lower at close of trade

Biggest gainers:

- Turk Ekonomi Bankasi (TEKB.IS) up 1.99% - Garanti Bank (GARAN.IS) up 1.87% - Akbank (AKBNK.IS) up 1.75% The BIST 100 index lost 0.80% to hit a new 3-month low on Monday, as losses in the energy, consumer goods and industrials sectors weighed on the market. The index fell to 995.17 points, its lowest level since March 19, extending losses for a fourth consecutive session. The energy sector was the biggest drag on the index, with shares of Turkish Petroleum (TPET.IS) falling 2.27% and shares of Tupras (TUPRS.IS) losing 2.03%. The consumer goods sector was also weak, with shares of Sasa Polyester (PLAS.IS) falling 3.02% and shares of Dogan Yayin Holding (DYHOL.IS) losing 2.98%. The industrials sector also declined, with shares of Ihlas Holding (IHLAS.IS) falling 2.96% and shares of Ciments de Bizerte (CBZ.IS) losing 2.88%. On the positive side, the banking sector helped to limit losses, with shares of Turk Ekonomi Bankasi (TEKB.IS) rising 1.99%, shares of Garanti Bank (GARAN.IS) gaining 1.87% and shares of Akbank (AKBNK.IS) climbing 1.75%. Overall, the BIST 100 index has lost 10.5% so far this year, as concerns about the global economy and the US-China trade war have weighed on the market.
